$550 you say? I think not, at least till tomorrow midnight. One other thing, LR4 allows you to softproof your images before you print them, and its print module is the best. There is plenty of free training and some good cheap training, such as the LR4 training videos from Lumunous-Landscape, I think they are around $50, but are worth the money because they give you some great short cuts.

I also access NiK and OnOne software from there.

As to ACR, LR4 is one big ACR and more, but doesn't actually give you the ACR opening box You can access CS4 from the menu. I also use some preset from other photographers.

I do create many presets that make things go faster. LR4 is pretty amazing at getting the images were you want them. Ingest the images in LR4 and work on them until you need to do some thing in CS.
#Adobe camera raw d800 upgrade#
Although if you can do that, I don't know why they just don't sell a moderately priced upgrade to Bridge. So what's the workflow: Open View NX, open Image Transfer, set it to open Lightroom, import the images, open the NEF images in Lightroom which opens ACR from which I can then open the images in Photoshop CS4? Or, in that case, ACR would recognize the NEF files, but CS4 still wouldn't? If not the latter, while slightly convoluted, that would work for me. James R: LR4 is reasonably priced and that might be a solution. Since LR4 came out, I haven't found a reason to use PhotoShop for anything, other than stitching a couple of panoramas. If for some reason you still want to use CS4, just export the selected files from LR4 to CS4. Save NEF files to a folder > import folder to LR4 > adjust images to taste. Am I hallucinating or is that real and is there some Nikon file I can plug into CS4 that would work? I seem to have a vague recollection from the past that there were two converter files: a Nikon version and a Adobe version and that they were interchangeable. My understanding is all they really have to change is to read the "D800" name from the metadata. Frankly, I don't think I should have to upgrade just because of the D800 NEF converter. Sjms: That's too big a bullet - they want $550 for the upgrade, which I think is pretty damned greedy. there have been changes in ARC too since your version. if you actually use PS you will notice more then subtle updates and abilities especially from PS4. Just bite the bullet and get the better product to support the newer camera. You can still use CS4 when needed from LR4 and you get the CS6 ACR engine to process your images. Of course there is another option, buy LR4.

Yes you do, or, convert to DNG as Zickar said.
#Adobe camera raw d800 download#
Search for Adobe DNG Converter and download according to your OS To avoid buying CS6, you can convert your NEF to DNG then access with CS4 Do I have to upgrade to CS6 in order to get NEF support for the D800 or is there another workaround to get it working?
